ANZ Rewards offering a sizeable 30% bonus on Velocity Points transfers in November

A guide to Velocity transfer bonuses for ANZ Rewards members

ANZ Rewards | Point Hacks

ANZ Rewards cardholders are again getting an extra win out of the Velocity 15% transfer bonus promo this month, with ANZ increasing the offer by tipping in an extra 15% bonus for making a transfer from ANZ Rewards or ANZ Business Rewards.

Unlike November 2016’s promotion but similar to the one in May of this year, this offer doesn’t require you to opt-in to auto-redemption, which is a great win. You can transfer over from 3,000 points for personal accounts or 2,250 for business accounts if that’s all you need. Auto-redemptions are also eligible for this bonus.

Eligible transfers must be made between 30 October and 30 November 2017.

Our full guide to ANZ Rewards is here, with the ANZ Rewards Black card the highest points earner in the range.

Other banks and flybuys are only running with a 15% bonus, so this is a great win for ANZ Rewards cardholders.

As a reminder, ANZ Rewards points usually transfer over to Velocity at 2 ANZ Rewards = 1 Velocity point.

Summing up

This is a good deal from ANZ Rewards, whether you are in the hunt for Velocity Points (or to transfer to KrisFlyer), and the bonus could be large enough, in my opinion, to consider moving points over to Velocity without a specific redemption in mind.

  1. When I seek to redeem my ANZ reward points, I am only being offered the 2 reward points for 1 velocity points in their user interface on their ANZ rewards site. How do I confirm that I will be receiving the 30% bonus in addition to this during the month of November 2017?

I was expecting the bonus offer to be advertised on the site and the calculation to factor it in. I don’t really want to transfer unless I am to receive the bonus.

      1. Thanks Matt. I guess ANZ don’t want to spend the $ to update their reward website’s user interface to reflect this deal when attempting to transfer.
Being cautious I called their 1300 Rewards number to clarify and they confirmed that the 30% would be applied and may take a month to show up on the Virgin side, which is enough assurance for me to proceed.
        Thanks for the link though.

  2. I have auto-redemption set up for my ANZ Rewards to Velocity. Should I change this and let the points add up in ANZ Rewards until deals like this come along? Do ANZ Rewards Points expire?

    1. I’ve just checked the terms and conditions and auto-redemptions are eligible during this period too!

You could choose to save up your points and manually transfer during these promotions. You may want to check out the offer history here to make an informed decision.

As for the expiration of ANZ Rewards points, here is what I found on their FAQ site:

      Do Reward Points expire?

You must use your points within 36 months of 31 December of the year in which the points were added to a points record. Reward Points that remain unused after that period will be cancelled.

  3. I’ve now got about 370,000 ANZ reward points… probably rack up another 200k by august when the changes happen and i’ll probably cancel it. not really sure what to do with them.

Do velocity points have an expiry? Is it worth just converting them across?

  4. Excellent – I have been waiting for this.

Just redemed 130,000 ANZ Reward points.

    Cheers Keith

  5. Does anyone know if ANZ do this regularly or is this a one off. My sign up bonus pts will not hit my account for a few months and I was going to hold off till the next Velocity 15% bonus to transfer them. If there is history of this 35% or similar I will hold off longer.

  6. Hi Keith,

Transfered my points on the 3rd, base points and 15% bonus came in on the 5th, “Boster offer” which is how it’s referred on Velocity account posted today! Great stuff.

  7. Anyone know how to set up the autoredemption on ANZ with the minimum 3000 points?

When I try to do it, it defaults to 2 ANZ points only?

    Cheers,

  8. How many days anz reward transfer to velocity ? I transferred since 2 may 6pm aest, so far still no points at velocity account 🙁

  9. A cunning distraction from the six points they held back from the rate cut yesterday?!

About twelve months ago they ran a promotion where they also gave status credits – do you know if they do this regularly?

  10. This is great and with a points balance of around 275,000 velocity points this will add a good chunk of points on top as a bonus! super glad i signed up with ANZ a few months ago and thanks for the help Points Hack! Couldn’t have done it without you!

  11. I just transfered 50000 to velocity on 2 may, and got 15% bonus only already. Any chance to get more bonus?

    1. I also transferred 70,000 to velocity and only received 15% bonus. Will the additional ANZ 15% bonus occur?

    2. I transferred on 1 May. My points hit Velocity yesterday and so did the 15% Velocity bonus. I have just spoken with ANZ Rewards and apparently the ANZ bonus should be credited within 5 days of the initial points hitting Velocity. I assume she means business days so I probably wont know until Tuesday next week.

  12. Shame it expires at the end of May, if they extended it I would of considered signing up to the ANZ Black card. Even if I sign up today and spend the required amount it’s likely I won’t get the points before the end of the month.

    1. Yes, bonus points from new cards are very unlikely to credit in time, I think the terms say to allow up to two months and I’ve heard anecdotally that they take that full amount of time.
